Mahsa Dehghani

This piece is about women claiming a male only space. Women dance in an octagonal pit, a Zoorkhaneh (which translates to a 'House of Strength'). This is a traditionally a space where men perform ritualistic warm ups, where they later move onto wrestling matches, in Iran. A tradition that has long been a part of Iran's culture, but one in which women are only allowed to observe from the outskirts.
